Michelle Winger, Owner of Literally Precise

I am a grammar enthusiast by nature. I’m the person who notices the misplaced apostrophe on a billboard and tells everyone in the car about it, whether they care to hear it or not. I love languages in general, but English fascinates me. I went to university to study psychology and came out with a bachelor’s degree in … wait, linguistics? One seemingly random English grammar course and I was hooked. Add my analytical, perfectionist temperament and here I am – a freelance proofreader/copyeditor.

Experience

  • As a freelance proofreader of twelve years, I have reviewed over 100 fiction and non-fiction books, requiring close attention to detail.
  • I have editing, copyediting and/or proofreading experience with catalogs, newsletters, advertisements, and other printed material for various companies and individuals.
  • I teach a college-level English Composition class that focuses on helping students improve their essay writing and communication skills.
  • I edit and grade numerous college essays during the course of each school year.
